Terms of Service

These Terms govern use of Sinther, including profiles, social posts, Bites, Features, Stories, direct messages, encrypted-message rooms, servers, comments, reactions, follows and related community features.

These Terms describe the service as it exists today. They do not promise that every feature will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or appropriate for every use.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create or use a Sinther account. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age or parental permission, that requirement also applies. You are responsible for activity performed through your account and for keeping access to your sign-in provider and devices secure.

2. Your content

You keep ownership of content you lawfully own. By uploading or posting content to Sinther, you give Sinther a non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, resize, transcode and otherwise process that content only as reasonably needed to operate, secure and present the service. You represent that you have the rights needed to upload the content and grant that license.

Do not upload material that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity or other rights. User-uploaded media is not pre-cleared by Sinther.

3. Community conduct

Do not use Sinther to violate law, exploit or endanger minors, impersonate others deceptively, distribute malware, evade access controls, harass or threaten people, expose private information without permission, spam users, or interfere with the service. Server owners and moderators may establish additional server rules so long as those rules do not override these Terms.

4. Cannabis-related content

Sinther permits lawful discussion and depiction of cannabis. That permission does not authorize illegal sales or distribution, instructions to evade applicable law, promotion or sale to minors, or other unlawful cannabis-related activity. Users remain responsible for following the laws that apply to them and their content.

5. Moderation and account actions

Sinther may remove content, restrict features, remove server access, suspend accounts or ban accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, respond to legal obligations, address security issues or operate the service. Server owners and moderators may separately manage their own servers. Moderation decisions may be based on reports, observed activity and technical evidence available to the service.

6. Messages and encryption

Regular direct messages and server messages are not represented as end-to-end encrypted. Sinther also offers specifically marked encrypted direct-message rooms. Those rooms encrypt message content in the client, but account identifiers, delivery metadata and other operational information may still exist outside the encrypted message body. Keep your encryption key file/private key secure; losing or replacing it can make older encrypted conversations unreadable.

7. Third-party services

Sinther currently relies on service providers including Supabase for authentication/database/realtime functionality, Firebase Hosting for web delivery, and Cloudflare R2/Workers for media storage and delivery. Google or Discord are contacted when you choose those sign-in methods. Their own terms and privacy practices may apply to their services.

8. Availability and changes

Features may be changed, tested, limited, discontinued or replaced. Data may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, software defects, provider outages, abuse prevention or other operational issues. Keep independent copies of content or encryption keys you cannot afford to lose.

9. Termination

You may stop using Sinther at any time. Sinther may suspend or terminate access as described above. A self-service account-deletion workflow is not currently represented in this build; that is an identified product requirement for a broader public launch.

10. Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided on an “as available” basis without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Changes to these Terms

If these Terms change materially, the updated version and effective date should be published here and, when appropriate, surfaced in Sinther.

12. Contact

Sinther does not currently publish a dedicated legal/support email in this build. Before a broader public launch, the operator should add a monitored contact method for legal, privacy and account requests.
