Cookies & Browser Storage

This page describes browser-side storage used by the current Sinther web build.

What Sinther stores

  • Authentication session: Supabase stores session information in browser local storage so you can remain signed in and refresh access tokens.
  • Encrypted-DM key material: Sinther stores the user's encrypted-DM private-key material locally on that device under a user-specific key.
  • Video preference: Bite mute and volume choices are stored locally so the player remembers what you selected.
  • Developer diagnostics: the optional sinther_perf flag is read only when a developer/user explicitly enables it.

What is not currently present

The reviewed build does not contain an advertising SDK, behavioral analytics SDK, ad-retargeting pixel, or application code that directly writes marketing cookies. Remote Google Fonts have also been removed from normal startup. The page still makes necessary/service-delivery requests to Supabase, Firebase/Google hosting, Cloudflare media infrastructure, and jsDelivr for the Supabase browser library; optional admin/media tools can contact jsDelivr or unpkg only when used.

Third-party sign-in

If you choose “Continue with Google” or “Continue with Discord,” that provider may use its own cookies or browser storage on its own domains as part of authentication. Those are controlled by the selected provider, not by Sinther's own application storage.

Consent

The current product is designed to load only storage/network functionality needed for account/session, security, user-requested features or preferences. A general marketing-cookie consent banner is therefore not included in this build because Sinther itself is not intentionally deploying non-essential advertising/analytics storage in the reviewed version. This is a product implementation decision, not a universal legal conclusion: if Sinther later adds non-essential analytics, advertising, cross-site tracking or similar storage, those technologies should be blocked until any consent required for the relevant users has been obtained.

Clearing storage

Signing out clears Supabase-related session storage used by Sinther. Clearing all browser site data can also remove local encrypted-DM key material and preferences. Removing encryption key material may make older encrypted conversations unreadable unless you kept the exported key file.

Questions

See the Privacy Policy for broader data practices. A dedicated privacy/contact channel is still a launch-readiness item for the service.
